Stages of Formation
Aspirancy
Lasts 12 months. A time of transition into religious life.
Postulancy
This stage of formation lasts one year and is a period of orientation, instruction and discernment spent within the cloister.Novitiate
Two years. It is a time of testing and learning to grow in all the dimensions of monastic life.Juniorate
The Junior Sister makes the three vows of chastity, obedience, and poverty in the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel and remains in simple vows for five years of continuing formation.Solemn profession
Living the three vows of chastity, obedience and poverty in the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel under perpetual enclosure until death. The nun is consecrated to God through the ministry of the Church.
